Decades of hard work has been done for reintroducing pandas back into the wild. This is a long way to go. If the release is successful, it could be a new chapter in panda conservation.
In order to provide the best conditions for training pandas for reintroduction into the wild, and to strengthen the adaptability to wild life for them, Chengdu Giant Panda Foundation has funded the construction of Panda Valley.

Why? Why so much hard work needs to be prepared for captive giant pandas’ release into the wild? The answer lies in the genetic diversity of giant pandas.
Now the biggest threat for giant pandas is the habitat fragmentation. Habitat Fragmentation means where giant pandas live is broken into pieces. Due to the habitat fragmentation the giant panda is losing its genetic diversity which is crucial to its adaptation, breeding and survival.
Habitat Fragmentation
By reintroducing giant pandas to the wild it means releasing new genetic code into the wild giant panda population. In addition, reintroduction program can also help to protect the habitat of wild giant panda population which is also the key to the recovery of wild panda population.
